Mussoorie also called the queen of hill stations was used by the British to escape the hot summers of Delhi and Kolkata. It is located at an altitude of 6600 feet above sea level. Mussoorie has green hills and a varied flora and fauna. It is a wonderful hill resort. It has snow ranges to the north east, view of the lovely Doon valley and the Shivalik ranges in the south. The highest point in Mussoorie is Lal Tibba at a height of 7500 feet. Sasan Gir or the Gir national sanctuary is located in the state of Gujarat. This sanctuary is spread over an area of 1412 square kilometres and was established in the year 1965 to provide a protective habitat to the dwindling population of Lion.

Sasan Gir is the only place outside Africa where the Lion can be seen in its natural habitat. Various other species of animals and plants can be seen in the forest. The state and central government has undertaken various efforts to preserve the rare species of Lions. One of these projects is setting up the Lion breeding program. Under this breeding program centres for breeding have been set up in various parts of the forest. The concentrated efforts to increase the population of Lions has reaped rich rewards as the population has gone up 15 in 1990 to over 400 presently. Jim Corbett national park tourism
